Abstract

Experiments were carried out to determine the influence of chemical fertilizers and EM bokashi on the growth of radish. The treatments had different combinations of the two components, and plants in treatments with bokashi were sprayed with EM and molasses. Vegetative growth of radish in soil supplied with chemical fertilizers was superior to that of plants grown with EM bokashi. However the growth patterns of tubers were similar in soils supplied with chemical fertilizers or EM bokashi. Palatability tests illustrated the superior quality of radish grown with EM. The results suggest that EM stimulated the growth of the economic part, the tuber of radish, which brings economic benefits to farmers. This benefit is attributed to the presence of growth stimulants in EM bokashi.
