Abstract
The Technology of Effective Microorganisms was introduced into Vietnam
in 1997, through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. A
comprehensive assessment was carried out using the resources available
in different institutions. The results of these studies illustrated that
EM contain microbes found in all ecosystems. EM promoted plant growth,
and with organic matter reduced requirements of chemical fertilizers. It
had a beneficial impact on animal production and could be effectively used
in waste management. The results and the benefits of using EM in Vietnam
are presented on the basis of experimentation.
