Abstract

The impact of foliar applications of Effective micro-organisms (EM) on selected physiological parameters, dry matter accumulation and yields of frenchbeans was evaluated in a greenhouse study. EM was applied at dilutions of 1:100 or 1:500 with adequate controls, at three day intervals.
The leaf chlorophyll contents, root nodulation and leaf photosynthesis of beans were significantly increased with EM. Yield components and yields were also enhanced, especially at dilution of 1:100. The results indicate the potential of using EM as a foliar spray to enhance yields of beans due to greater rates of photosynthesis and dry matter accumulation.
